Use threads to organize discussions
Reply in threads to keep channel conversations organized and focused.
What is a thread?
A thread is a focused conversation attached to a specific message. Instead of cluttering the main channel with back-and-forth replies, threads let you have a deeper discussion in a dedicated side panel while keeping the channel clean.
Start or reply to a thread
To start a thread, hover over any message and click the reply icon. A panel will open on the right side where you can see the original message and all replies. Type your response and send it just like a regular message.
When to use threads
Threads are great for:
- 1Asking follow-up questions about a specific message
- 2Having a detailed discussion without flooding the channel
- 3Keeping feedback and decisions linked to their original context
Use threads liberally — they're the best way to keep channels readable.
