Create a channel
Create new channels to organize conversations by topic, project, or team.
Create a new channel
To create a channel in your workspace:
- 1Click the "+" button next to "Channels" in the sidebar
- 2Enter a name for your channel
- 3Optionally add a description
- 4Click "Create Channel"
Channel names are automatically normalized — spaces become hyphens and all letters are lowercase.
Channel naming tips
Good channel names are short and descriptive. Some common patterns:
- 1#project-website — For a specific project
- 2#team-design — For a team's discussions
- 3#help-onboarding — For help topics
- 4#random — For casual chat
Use consistent prefixes like #project-, #team-, or #help- to make channels easy to find.
